April 1st (April fool’s) Census Day
Today, they want to count me.
In fifteen days they want my money
(whatever's left)
Meanwhile I have forms to fill
incoherent instruction to decipher
obscure calculations to follow
blindly offering my soul to them
who, following their instructions, squeeze.
Perhaps the hippies were right.

April's Fool
ReplyDeleteWhat ho –
A poem I spy
Hiding near, oh so spry!
Rhymes are
required, aye
and rhythms too, so say I.
This sucks
but it was fun
now my day's work is done.

No fooling
ReplyDeleteNothing rhymes with April,
drat
and nothing ever will.
So what I've written for the day
is undiluted swill.
I hope the morrow brings with it
some words that might fulfill
the concept of pure poetry
Oh, that would be a thrill.
