A young man, ready
to embrace the future
heard the call of duty
went to war
and was killed.
His sister named her first born
after her dead brother, who
a generation later
heard the call of duty
went to war and was killed.
His sister named her first born
after her dead brother, who
a generation later
heard the call of duty
but did not go to war
and so lives to write this poem.

I took my brand new sprayer
ReplyDeletedown by the waterside
I wanted to kill algae
so mixed some algaecide
in no time flat I soaked the weeds
and viewed the mess with pride
but then I lost the sprayer tip
without the tip it only dript
I wailed and wept and lost my grip
down by the waterside
I leaned into the water
and moved my hands around
the algae was stained turquoise
the mud was somewhat browned
the algae, it was winning
my hopes were nearly drowned
but then I found a sprayer tip
not in the pond: I took a trip
to the garage, and gave a yip
Yippe! for what I'd found
was yet another sprayer
belonging to my dad
the motor long stopped working
in fact, it had gone bad
But I was very happy
in fact, I was darn glad
to see that yellow sprayer's tip
with that old tip I could equip
my new one. Then I let 'er rip
and now I am not mad!
