Some days nearly everything goes right
Socks match, shoes stay tied,
The new shirt has no tag at the neck to itch you into fits.
You find the dog crap
before stepping into it
Not a single cat has bitten another
into puss-y pussy putrefaction.
Nothing breaks while packing.
All the stores stay open so you can buy what you need:
Printing, wrapping materials, receipt books.
Everything's going along really, really smoothly.
It’s enough to make you really, really nervous.

Years Gone By
ReplyDeleteThe first year,
we were stuck
on each other.
The second,
each ignored
the other's faults.
Come anniversary three,
some faults were too big
to not fight over.
During our fourth year,
we learned we really
liked each other.
Our fifth year,
most times we traveled
together,
sometimes not.
Year six
we hold hands,
and stand side by side.

This really sucks but it's almost midnight!
Maggie -- that's fun, and I can identify with that nervous feeling!
ReplyDeleteWhile my charming personal banker
ReplyDeleteopens a new account for me
netting me an extra hundred dollars
through a little alchemy
she collected her winning
from the office pool.
May, your piece is so sweet --- and Peter, if what I think I get from yours, that's really sad.
